Famous Dave’s Legendary BBQ Opens First Location in Reno

Reno, NV (March 28, 2011) – Award-winning BBQ is com­ing to Reno as Famous Dave’s Leg­endary BBQ opens at Hwy 395 and Kiet­zke Lane on Mon­day, March 28.

“We are very excited about the open­ing of our first Reno loca­tion,” said Rory O’Neal, Man­ag­ing Part­ner of Reno-based Savory Invest­ments Inc. and fran­chise holder for the Reno loca­tion of Famous Dave’s Leg­endary BBQ. “We look for­ward to mak­ing Famous Dave’s part of the com­mu­nity and want to treat our cus­tomers to the hos­pi­tal­ity for which we’re known.” Famous Dave’s Reno has added more than 175 jobs to the local econ­omy along with being a pos­i­tive cor­po­rate neigh­bor by donat­ing more than $5,800 to the Boys and Girls Club of Truc­kee Meadows.

EVENT:

Famous Dave’s will con­duct a time-honored “pass­ing of the embers” cer­e­mony and a “rib” cut­ting at 10:00 a.m. that day. The ember cer­e­mony is part of Dave Anderson’s (the founder of Famous Dave’s) Native Amer­i­can her­itage where “fire” was passed from tribe to tribe as a sign of pros­per­ity and good luck.  Embers straight from the smoker from the Famous Dave’s restau­rant in Lawrence, KS – which was the most recently opened restau­rant, prior to the Reno loca­tion – will be placed inside the new BBQ smoker to ignite the first flame for the new restaurant.
